With copper title.
Folio, size 8 1/2 by 13 1/4" ( 31 x 19.5 cm.)
Blind embossed leather binding (cracked front joint, pasted over the upper capital with a wide leather strip, back cover with a repaired tear in the leather) over wooden covers with 1 (of 2) chased brass clasp.
Several leaves loosened at the end, slightly damp margins.
Front title with a small hole. Slightly browned.
First edition of this new testament with notes by the Jesuit and theologian Franciscus Costerus (1532-1619), who taught as a professor at Cologne University, for the Catholic Church entered and converted numerous Protestants.
Text in Dutch.
