Description: A palace-size carpet with a rich crimson field centered by an elongated floral medallion and pendant bouquets. Closely worked flowering vines in ivory, blue, green and rose form a deeply scalloped surround, expanding into the corners and broad borders. The contrast between the open red field and densely ornamented floral perimeter is characteristic of Kerman-inspired medallion designs. Its expansive proportions and coordinated floral drawing distinguish the composition, which extends to an outer series of narrow patterned guard borders.
