1683 Spanish Ribadeneira Lives of Saints Jesuit Martyr
1683 Spanish Ribadeneira Lives of Saints Jesuit Martyrdom 2v LARGE SET
Pedro de Ribadeneira was a 16th-century Spanish Jesuit priest who is best known for studying with Ignatius of Loyola. One of his most important works was ‘Flos Sanctorum’, a collection of biographical sketches of the lives of saints. While it is sometimes mislabeled as ‘The Golden Legend’, this work is a classic example of hagiography and has played an important role in the development of iconography of Christian art throughout the Renaissance.
This 1683 French edition was supplemented with new entries by Andre du Val and was translated by Rault.
