His life was led by much controversy including a Protestant conversion, secret plots against Francis II of France, and frequent skirmishes with the Catholic Church – which led to his arrest. The events of his life were best written by French author Pierre Coste in his book Life of Louis of Bourbon, more than 100 years following Louiss death.

This rare 1695 French edition features an impressive, folding map at the back of the book.
