This painting appears to follow the model of Rafael Sanzio´s painting known as “Madonna of the Rose", which is kept at the Prado Museum in Madrid. According to the Prado Museum description "… in the 16th century in Spain there were copies of the paintng, such as the six which are registered in the 1589 will of the Florentine painter Beneditto Rabuyate, active in Valladolid".
