‘The History of the Revolution in Sweden’ by Vertot, is one of the best 18th-century accounts of the Swedish Empire, outlining parts of the Middle Ages through the rise of Charles XI. Vertot discusses Swedish wars against Denmark and Russia, the Swedish crown, the effects of the Protestant Revolution in Sweden, as well as the growth of the Swedish Empire over that time. This 1716 edition was translated into English out of the original French by Mitchel.
