1724 Medieval KNIGHTS Chivalry Little John of Saintre by Antoine la Sale French
Antoine de la Sale was a 15th-century French author who wrote on several topics including, and most commonly, courtly chivalry. His most famous book was ‘Little John of Saintre’ – a historical novel written to describe the development of knighthood and the rules under which knights should live. Of course, like many other novels from the time, Sale includes elements of courtly love and romance.
This rare 1724 French edition was published in Paris by Saugrain and includes chronological notes by Thomas-Simon Gueulette who contributed a preface on the origins of chivalry, medieval knight tournaments, and royal courts.
