Richardson; 1754), 16mo, contemporary full calf with banded spines and gilt lettering in title blocks This is a first edition of the last of Richardson's Epistolary Novels (Pamela, Clarissa). A single leaf publisher's ad appears in Volume IV, and the 7th and final volume of this series includes Richardson's "Address to the Public" (pp. 423-442) in which he denounces those who have published pirated editions of his work and profited from them. With a contemporary bookplate of first owner "Miss Williams, Penpont" pasted on inside front boards.
External wear consistent with age and use, a few scattered signatures loose, and some boards cracked or chipped along edges, but leather supple and contents all tight.
