CONTENTS
The illustration includes 22 large figures of different styles, placed either in mesh frames or in architectural frames, including that of the anatomical man (or rather skeleton) . The first of these figures represents the kidnapping of Deianira by the centaur Nessus and saved by Hercules, a subject taken from Greek mythology, and the last shows two angels holding up a crowned shield loaded with twelve castles and surmounting an armillary sphere: these two engravings, listed and reproduced by Silvestre, n°54 and 55, are the typographical trademarks of Gillet Hardouyn.

Copy on parchment, ruled and rubricated, of the remarkable Grandes Heures by Gillet Hardouyn.
Described by Lacombe as number 265, the edition is printed in Gothic script and features an almanac for 16 years, from 1515 to 1530.

Each page is framed by ornamental borders or engravings of various sizes, most of which represent characters or scenes from the Holy Scriptures; the iconographic cycle of the dance of the dead, present in this edition, unfolds in 22 more or less surprising engravings of approximately 14 lines in height placed in the margin of cards from G7 to K4, i. e. one engraving per page.

The Psalter of Mary is grafted onto the Psalter of David: in fact, the Hail Marys are the Canticles of the New Testament, as the Psalms of the Old Testament already were, as Saint Ambrose states.
It is compared to the Psalter, the 150-string musical instrument, similar to the Harp, with which the Jews set the Psalms of David to music.
Bonaventura da Bagnoregio (Bagnoregio, 1217/1221 – Lyon, 15 July 1274) was an Italian cardinal, philosopher and theologian. Called Doctor Seraphicus, he studied and taught at the Sorbonne in Paris and was a friend of Saint Thomas Aquinas. Giotto was inspired by his biography - the Legenda Maior - for the cycle of stories about the Saint in the basilica of Assisi.

Bonaventure is considered one of the greatest thinkers of the Franciscan tradition, which also thanks to him began to become a real school of thought, both from a theological and philosophical point of view.
