1766 Dated Rare Sterling Dated Case Fusee Pocket Watch
55 mm outside case, 45 mm inside case
A typical time only 18th century fusee by James Campbell of London. Gilt brass movement with Egyptian style pillars, pierced balance cock in floral motif with grotesque mask, and silver regulator wheel. . Exceptional dial with Roman numerals for all chapters, all minute hash marks at the dials edge in a continuous circle. Hour broken into five minute segments, indicated at extreme edge of the dial by 5 to 60 in Arabic numerals. Traditional 18th century beetle and poker hands. Case marked for Hugh Beard, London, reg. 1758, or Henry Billinghurst, London, reg. 1759, both using a similar mark and working in the same time frame. Dated mark on sterling case is worn but appears for the year 1766. Non original key included. Original sales paperwork included.
