Johannes Leusden (1624-1699) is a Dutch Calvinist theologian and an Orientalist.
Born in Utrecht,He studied in Amsterdam to become a Professor of Hebrew in his hometown.
He is then the most prominent Bible expert of his time and has written several works on the Bible and Hebraic philology
In 1660, in collaboration with the rabbi of Amsterdam and the printer Joseph Athias, he published his Biblia Hebraica, the first edition of the Hebrew Bible with numbered verses
