1774-1792 18 VOLUMES THREE VOYAGES of CAPTAIN JAMES

Beautiful copy, in luxury bindings, complete with the three voyages of Captain Cook in 18 octavo volumes.
The first and the third voyage is first octavo edition, respectively from 1774 & 1785.
The second voyage is in a new edition from 1792.
Illustrated with a fold-out map and a fold-out plate in vol. 18.
The three circumnavigations carried out by James Cook, for a total of 12 years at sea, left an unparalleled legacy and a wealth of knowledge, not only in the field of cartography, but also in botany and geography.
A decorative and very well preserved set.
Binding in glazed flamed tawny calfskin, smooth spine adorned with two red morocco mosaic labels and a very beautiful decoration of small gilded stamps, gilded dentelle framing the boards, a small chain on the edges of the boards, marbled edges and endpapers.
Tight volumes, leather in very good condition, minor wear
Interior is generally in excellent condition. Volume 13 has a faded dampstain in the upper margin of the last leaves .
Without the atlases that can be found separately.
