Marie de’ Medici was a 17th-century Queen of France, married to Henri IV. She is best known for being a prominent political figure from the famous House of Medici, but she strayed away from the anti-Habsburg agenda that was common in French foreign policy.

French author Geneviève Thiroux d’Arconville published a thorough and detailed account of the life of Marie de Medici. Also known as Marie Genevieve Darlus, d’Alcornville published many of her works in complete anonymity. She was heavily influenced by her friends and peers, many of whom were high profile – Voltaire, Turgot.
