1780 1st ed Mint & COINS of England Numismatics Illustrated Durham Mark Noble

Mark Noble’s ‘Two Dissertations upon the Mint and Coins’ is the best and most thorough treatise on numismatics of Palatine of Durham in Northern England. Noble was a high profile coin collector in the 18th-century but his fame now rests solely on the popularity of this treatise. According to D.F. Allen, Noble

“makes a very good attempt to classify the coins of Durham according to the bishop’s marks theron, and to deduce from them the general arrangement of English coins. He makes sensible use of documentary material.”
