The handwritten records are comprised of daily business transactions, including the sale of tea, sugar, coffee, butter, rum, chocolate, nutmeg, ginger, corn, snuff and pepper, among many other items. The merchant keeps detailed notes on amounts owed, paid, and any interest. Entries are typically signed by the purchaser with an "X" placed through the entry when it had been settled. Expected toning and foxing throughout, some chipping to the cover, otherwise the binding is tight with all pages intact. Worthy of further research.
