Richard Grey was an 18th-century English archdeacon who wrote a book entitled ‘Memoria Technica’, a book for which he is mostly remembered. While Grey was notably a churchman, he wrote his book on memory from a scientific standpoint. ‘Memoria Technica’ was written to describe mnemonic devices as an avenue for memorization. He uses various forms of metered beat to help memorize chronological events, geography, astronomy, and much more.
