17th C. Native American Glass, Ceramic & Brass Beads

North America, Native American, ca. 17th to 18th century CE. A dazzling ensemble 58 trade beads - 24 tubular glass, 5 spherical ceramic, and 29 biconical leaded brass - arranged in a lovely alternating pattern and strung on a modern strand to be wearable. Each material of bead presents a different color with the ceramic beads enveloped in a lustrous white glaze, the glass beads boasting a translucent shade of blue, and the leaded brass beads displaying a metallic shade of gold with a few beads nicely speckled with light green patina, all adding variation to the piece. A stunning adornment, perfect for any occasion! Size (of necklace): 34" L (86.4 cm); Size (of largest bead): 1" L x 0.75" W (2.5 cm x 1.9 cm)

Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s

Condition Report: All beads are ancient and strung on modern strand to be wearable. Chip to 1 glass beads and abrasions to a few other glass beads. Otherwise, excellent with nice patina on metal beads.
