This Art Nouveau pendant watch on chain was made for Tiffany & Co for retail in the United States. The watch hangs from a yellow gold filled curb link chain that has a swivel type clasp, but is however unlikely to be original to the watch. The finely crafted pendant watch is made from 18 karat yellow gold and has an enamelled case back and bezel. The yellow gold dial features black Arabic numerals and has a single sunk seconds dial along with the words 'Swiss' and 'Tiffany & Co'. Wound from the crown at 12 o'clock the watch is in working condition however has not been tested for accuracy or been recently serviced. The mechanism is a Longines 17 jewel movement while the inside of the case back is marked 'Made for Tiffany & Co by Wittnauer & Co'. We date this watch to just after World War 1, circa 1915, at which time Tiffany was known to be one of the finest jewellers and retailers in the world. This marvellous piece has some losses to the enamel which we consider to be commensurate with age and do not detract from the beauty of the piece.
