18 Native American Missourian Stone Arrowheads

Native American, United, States, Missouri, Pike County, Transitional Paleo to Woodland Period, ca. 7250 BCE to 700 CE (9,250 to 1,300 BP). A handsome gathering of 18 hand-knapped stone points exhibiting triangular side notch, triangular stemmed, lanceolate stemmed, and ovoid forms. Seventeen arrowheads display tones of beige, tan, taupe, and butterscotch, while one presents a lustrous black surface. These wonderful points are classified as a multitude of types, such as: Matanzas, Dickson, Hebron Turkey Tail, Hemphill, Kramer, Stone, Mason, Adena, Godard, Scottsbluff, Stemmed Karnak, Etley, Schershel, and Belknap. Size of largest: 1.125" W x 4.5" H (2.9 cm x 11.4 cm); Size of frame: 14.875" W x 10.125" H (37.8 cm x 25.7 cm)

Knapped lithics, like these examples, are made using percussion, striking them with other stones; the process required to get them the correct shape requires training and skill.
