18 TRAYS OF CLASSICAL GRAND TOUR CAMEO IMPRONTE IN RED LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURYEach shallow oak stacking tray with numerous numbered examples Catalogue Note: These plaster cameos, or Impronte, were both copies of ancient pieces as well as recent work done by contemporary artists working in Rome. These are found both in trays such as this and also in faux book bindings (Liberotti Impronte) and are usually in white and were accompanied by an index of the models in the set. The index is not present with this lotCondition Report: There are some scratches, chips, knocks and abrasions consistent with age.The interlocking oak cases are in worn condition with some evidence of old worm, cracks, splits, opened corners and lacking some areas and sections. There are two base sections and two covers.The green paper linings to the trays are curling and peeling from the edges.
