18 kt. Silver, Yellow gold - Necklace, with antique diamonds alternated with more modern emerald cabochons -Diamond - Emeralds
Type of jewel: necklace
. Condition: very good
. Country of origin: Most probably Belgium
. Style: Vintage
. Era: ca. 1960 - The gold chain is from the sixties of the 20th century, but the silver center piece and the smaller silver diamond settings are older.
. Material: 18K yellow gold and silver (touchstone tested)
. Technique: The diamonds are set in silver. In older era's (antique jewellery) it was common for diamonds to be set in silver as it was believed that a white metal can bring out a diamond's lustre much better.
. Diamond(s) :
-22 old mine brilliant cut diamonds (also called bolshevics) , with an estimated weight of ± 1. 50ct. This diamond cut was common around 1800, these diamonds most probably come from antique jewellery from that time. (colour and clarity: H/K, i) . All diamond weights, color grades and clarity are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting.
-One rose cut diamond. We do not have the weight of this diamond which is normal in our trade when it comes to rose cuts.
. Precious stone(s) :
-One emerald with an estimated weight of ± 12ct.
-Six emeralds with an estimated total weight of ± 6ct.
. The weight of stones are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts, this to preserve the integrity of the setting.
. For the same reason we haven't tested the identity of these stones. Their inclusion patterns resemble that of emerald. Furthermore, the surface reaching fractures seem to be filled with a substance, which is common for emerald as this makes their usual included apprearance more transparent and sometimes of better colour. Besides that, we've got indication of a green foil at the bottom of the setting of these stones to make them appear of a better colour. This means that the green colour that these stones seem to have, isn't the genuine colour of the stones, which makes us doubtful of their identity as emeralds.
. Birth and month stones: Diamond is the birthstone (or month stone) for April and emerald for May.
. Hallmarks: No trace.
. Dimensions: Length necklace: ca. 23,00 cm (9,06 inch) - Length pendant: ca. 3,00 cm (1,18 inch) - See picture with a ruler in cm and inches
. Weight: 19,20 gram (12,35 dwt)
. Adin reference Nº: 19205-0027
