Type of jewel: Antique mid-Victorian diamond ring with black enamel Condition: In reasonably good condition, especially given the age of the jewel. On both shoulders the center part of the enamel is missing, but since its symmetric it is not obvious. Country of origin: France Style: Victorian Era: ca. 1850 Material: 18K yellow gold (touchstone tested) Technique: Enamelling is an old and widely-adopted technology. The ancient Egyptians applied enamels to pottery and stone objects. Enamel is the colorful result of fusing powdered glass to a substrate by firing, usually between 750 and 850 degrees Celsius. The powder melts and flows and hardens to a smooth, durable vitreous coating on metal, glass or ceramic. Diamond(s) : One old mine brilliant cut diamond, tested and guaranteed natural diamond (also called bolshevic) with an estimated weight of ± 0. 24ct. (colour and clarity: E/H, vs/si) . All diamond weights, color grades and clarity are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting. We have all diamonds in all our vintage and antique jewellery tested by the IJGC - lab whether they are natural diamonds or lab-grown diamonds. When diamonds in our jewellery turn out to be lab-grown we don't offer them. Therefore we guarantee that all diamonds in this jewel are 100% natural. Birth and month stones: Diamond is the birthstone (or month stone) for April. Hallmarks: Although it carries a typical French control mark representing an owl , we cannot be sure it is actually French as the owl was also used for items in finished condition that were brought to be examined by the French Assay office (the eagle’s head was used for items brought in unfinished) . Dimensions: width band top of ring 0,90 cm (0,35 inch) - See picture with a ruler in cm and inches Weight: 3,00 gram (1,93 dwt) Ring size: EU-54 & 17¼, USA-6¾, UK-N Free resizing* *) Resizing: *Only for extreme changes we will charge something.
