The ‘Columbian Centinel’ was an early American newspaper that, according to Frederic Hudson, was “the most influential and enterprising paper in Massachusetts after the Revolution.” This 1803 edition is unique in its statements of conflict between Spain and France on the ownership of New Orleans iterating the claims of France’s ownership of New Orleans this paper being printed on the day the Louisiana Purchase was dated.
