1806 1/2 C Small 6, Stems, C-3, B-2, FS-301, High R.5, Good 6 PCGS. Ex: Jon D. Lusk Collection. Manley Die State 2.0. Fuhrman State 3. This is the rarest 1806 variety and one of the rarer varieties in the Draped Bust series. The 1806 C-3 also has one of the lowest condition census records in the Draped Bust series of half cents. The Missouri Cabinet coin graded VF35 is the finest known example, and second finest appears to be the Partrick coin that grades Fine 15. There are likely just a few others that grade better than the present piece. In our opinion, the present coin from the Lusk Collection is among the 10 finest surviving examples of the variety. This golden-brown and olive example has pleasing surfaces showing trivial, grade-consistent marks and faint hairlines of no consequence. A small lamination is noted in the left obverse field.
