18/19thC or earlier Burmese Buddha-very fine and large one of a kind Portrait Buddha
Unique, large Burmese Buddha. Face and hairdo look like portraiture sculptures of a specific person-possibly a Westerner, which is never ever done on a Buddha statue. Whimsical "horn" cap finial. Distinctive robes which look western- I want to call his garb a "Tunic". A real mystery. Looks to be at least 18/19thC. I've seen hundreds of thousands of Burmese Buddhas, but none like this one. Sits a substantial 19 inches tall. Perhaps commissioned during the colonial period by a high-level Western official.
