Rev. H. J. Wilkins was the vicar of Westbury on Trym. He is mainly remembered for writing a comprehensive biography of merchant Edward Colstons in 1920; this biography was the first to expose Colstons active participation in the slave trade, a fact that had been expunged from much of Colstons recorded legacy in favor of his philanthropic work in the Bristol area.
