‘The American Magazine of Useful and Entertaining Knowledge’ was a monthly periodical established to give the general public a view into a wide variety of subjects including zoology, natural landscapes, educational institutions, banks and hospitals, modern inventions and technology, and much more. While the magazine only had a short lifespan, it was quite popular in the New England area, much in part to the profusely illustrated volumes.

This volumes features articles and essays from the October 1836 work, many of which include highly interesting topics.
