1840-O 10C No Drapery, Large O, F-101a, R.4, AU55 PCGS. Diagnostic die cracks exist at R and the final A of AMERICA and above TES of STATES. Three mintmark sizes are known for 1840-O Seated dimes. This Fortin-101a coin is a Large O mintmark variety that also shows a weak date punch. While the mintage exceeded 1.1 million pieces, the 1840 New Orleans issue circulated widely and survivors are scarce above the XF grade. This sharply struck Choice About Uncirculated example displays rose-gold and steel-blue toning on both sides, with some old brownish-gray build-up seen between the reverse legend and the rim.
