1846 (Apr 17) Entire letter from James Buchanan in Edinburgh to New York bearing 1841 2d blue plate 3 JG-JL strip of six (JH crossed by vertical file fold and JL cut into at right, otherwise fine with good margins), each cancelled "131", endorsed "p. Cambria from Liverpool" with red "7". The letter talks of the ongoing Oregon controversy and the halting of railroad bills through Parliament. An attractive franking to pay the 1/- transatlantic rate, and an interesting letter. Photo on Page 8.
