‘Isaac T Hopper’ is Lydia Maria Child’s biography of her friend and noted abolitionist Isaac Hopper. Isaac Hopper was an American abolitionist who was active in Philadelphia in the anti-slavery movement and in 1845 became active in prison reform and devoted the rest of his life to the Prison Association of New York.

Child’s book carefully wove together Hopper's abolitionist activities with sections that scholars feel were influenced by Harriet Beecher Stowe's anti-slavery work. Many Quakers of that time wanted to delay or slowly attack slavery since they saw that it could bring about an end to the United States as a nation. Child argues that those Quakers in business were blinded by their need for cotton and ‘Isaac Hopper’ became a major work in influencing those who called for the end of slavery.
