1856 1C Snow-9 PR61 PCGS. The 1956 Snow-9 Flying Eagle cents were struck in proof format around 1859. In addition to a diagnostic center dot located below the upper-left serif on N in CENT, a diagonal die line angles downward through U and a horizontal die line exists in the wing near I in UNITED. A small, short spike extends from the left wreath stem. This PR61 example displays tan-gold color with reddish-orange accents and a sharp strike. The fields are smooth and minimally marked, offering partial reflectivity at the borders. The historical importance of 1856 cents attract small cent specialists as well as proof and pattern collectors alike.
