Erasmus Wilson, a renowned English surgeon, became well-known for his studies on skin health and prevention and treatment of skin diseases. However, his popularity arose out of his desire to help the poor and underprivileged. One of his most interesting, and seemingly bizarre, practices was prescribing his wealthy and rich patients to give up luxuries as a means of a cure. One of his best textbooks was ‘The Dissector’s Manual’, a book covering all aspects of human anatomy with an emphasis on surgery.

This 1856 edition is filled with over 150 in-text figures depicting anatomical systems, organs, and body parts.
