1860 Andriveau Goujon Folding Wall Map of Paris, France

This is a beautiful map of Paris created by Andriveau-Goujon’ with their distinctive pastel coloring to show the expansion works of . It was published in 1860 and is one of the earliest modern maps of the city. The architect Alfred Potiquet revised and updated this edition. Paris is divided into twenty areas called arrondissements. These were established in 1859 when the suburbs between the Thiers fortifications and the Farmers General wall were added to Paris. Each district is colored with a different color and is further divided into four districts. The map also shows the Red-colored boulevards proposed by Haussmann, which cut through the old city.
Andriveau-Goujon made different versions of this map between 1858 and 1869. This particular map is the second version, and it might be the rarest one. It's the only known example of the 1860 edition found in any collection, whether it's owned by the public or private individuals.
