1860-D Gold Dollar NGC MS60

1860-D Gold Dollar NGC MS60. Rare, with a mintage of only 1,566; more survived than would be expected perhaps because of Civil War hoarding but the survival rate is estimated only at 80-100. The 60-D was one of the poorly struck issues and this can be seen in a missing UN and weak ITED in United on the obverse. The reverse has a weakly struck rim on left and a mark in the top left leaves. Nice flash and look on the reverse. Only 9 coins graded higher on the NGC census Auction for the benefit of Catholic Relief Services overseas emergency relief programs
