1864 Regimental Election "Pollbook" (A. Lincoln)

Regimental "poll-book" that served as a list of registered voters in the military during the Civil War who to participate in the 1864 election. This particular example recorded eligible voters in company "E" of the 201st Pennsylvania.

The 1864 election occurred despite the logistical challenges that came with registering and counting thousands of votes cast by soldiers engaged in active service.

Rare piece that serves as testament to the triumph of democracy against extraordinary odds.
