Evert Duyckincks “Lives and Portraits of the Presidents of the United States” was a 19th-century history of the American presidents filled with impressive engravings from illustrator Alonzo Chappel. Chappels artwork were seen in books throughout the second half of the 19th-century. Chappel and Duyckinck published this account during the Andrew Johnson administration.

This particular edition was translated into Spanish (or Castilian) by Isidro Grediaga, still published in New York by Johnson and Fry, the same company responsible for the English printing.
