This 1868 edition of ‘Greece’ is a handsome and picturesque plate book with views of Greek landscapes and ruins, described by eminent English scholar, Christopher Wordsworth. He was the nephew of the famous Romantic poet, William Wordsworth. He toured Greece in 1832-3 and discovered the site of the oracle of Zeus at Dodona, although the only part of his journal which he published was this very interesting and detailed description of the Attic peninsula as well as Greece, Boeotia, Phocis, Locris, Thessalia, Epirus, The Ionian Islands, and The Peloponnesus Hellas.

This 1868 edition of ‘Greece’ contains numerous wood-cut engravings and 27 steel-cut engravings illustrative of the scenery, architecture, costume, and fine arts of the country including maps as well as a history of Greek Art by George Scharf!
