1870 50C Standard Silver Half Dollar, Judd-989, Pollock-1118, Low R.7, PR65 Red and Brown PCGS. Standard Silver design with Liberty facing right wearing a headband with a star, a scroll below reading IN GOD WE TRUST, and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA above. The reverse is similar to the one used in 1869 with 50 CENTS in the center and surrounded by a wreath of oak and laurel with 1870 below and STANDARD SILVER above. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. While the Standard Silver series is a frequently encountered group among patterns, individual issues such as this one are infrequently encountered. Rich red and blue-green toning is seen over each side with strong mirrors that further enhance the coloration.
