1870's Indigo Blue & White Shoofly Quilt
Cotton 1860's/1870's indigo blue and white shoofly quilt, all hand pieced and hand quilted, with unusual conversation prints and sawtooth and zigzag borders. It measures 70" X 78" and is in excellent condition, with the occasional light spot and no wear. There is straight line and grid quilting throughout at 7 stitches to the inch. The back is white, the hand stitched binding is indigo, and the batting is thin. You can see cotton seed residue inside when you hold the quilt up to the light.
