1870's Red & Green Coxcomb Applique Quilt

This cotton 1870's red, teal green/blue & white coxcomb quilt is hand appliqued and hand quilted. The quilt came out of the Fayette County, Pennsylvania area. It measures a generous 90" X 92" and is in mint, unwashed condition, with a couple of small age spots and no wear. The quilt feels strong and sturdy overall. The quilting is SUPERB, with double straight line, diamond, and feathered wreath designs quilted throughout at an even 7-8 stitches to the inch with pencil marks still visible. The back and hand stitched binding are white, and the batting is thin. You can see cotton seed residue inside when you hold the quilt up to the light.
