Miguel de Cervantess History of Don Quixote is one of the most famous works of literature and is one of the most popular adventure tales to be written. This 1742 English first edition is particularly important – translated by Charles Jervas, it was praised as the most accurate English translation through the 18th-century. Interestingly, it is because his translation of Don Quixote that Jervas name was changed to Jarvis – due to a printers error – and the work has become known as the Jarvis translation.
This fine 19th-century edition used Jarviss English and was beautifully bound in decorative red cloth!
