1877 Gold Dollar NGC MS68. Finest known at both services with 5 others at NGC and 3 at PCGS. Very sharply struck with the usual weak C in AMERICA, the coin boasts reflective fields on both sides that warrant PL status were it a Morgan Dollar. A tiny area of raised rust beneath the ear and doubled letters in DOLLAR matches Dave Bower's observations of this date. Still bathed in luster after 144 years it is certain to be a prize for the registry collectors Auction for the benefit of Catholic Relief Services overseas emergency relief programs
