The Carson City Mint struck 97,000 Trade dollars in 1878 before suspending coinage in anticipation of the new standard silver dollars designed by George Morgan. The issue is scarce overall, with AU58 coins being rare. This is a boldly struck near-Mint example, deeply toned in golden-olive and lilac-gray hues.
