1878-CC Unc. Morgan Silver Dollar, GSA Hoard.

This Coin was discovered by the U.S. Treasury in 1964, as part of a huge hoard of coins which escaped from being melted in the early 1900's. It is marked in its case as "Uncirculated", but the graders of these coins at the time were said to be quickly hired college students, who knew little about actual coin grading. Technically, none of these coins were actually in circulation, but some of them are in better condition than others. So some coins in cases marked "Uncirculated" may actually be in poorer condition than those in cases not marked as "Uncirculated". In the end, it is the buyer who needs to be the judge of the pristineness (or lack therof) of these coins. This coin has a couple of tiny dents along its rim, and light scratches (also known as "bag marks" on its face). Its outer box has the finish of its cover torn in one spot, and has "83" written in grease pencil on it. It comes with an "uncirculated" insert card, which may or may not match this particular coin.
