John D. Lee, a prominent figurehead in the Mormon Church, was a participant in the Mountain Meadows Massacre and the only person tried for this atrocity. Lee was found guilty and put to death by firing squad at Mountain Meadows in 1877.

This 1881 edition has 13 engravings throughout with engravings of portraits of John D Lee and Brigham Young, as well as scenes of the Mountain Meadow Massacre and Lee’s execution.
