1884 25C MS63 NGC. Briggs 1-A. The circulation-strike Seated quarters from the 1880s are infrequently encountered when compared to proof strikes. Most late 19th and early 20th century collectors where unconcerned about the striking format, so they saved proof examples that were readily available. Mint State pieces quietly slipped into circulation. This impressive Select Mint State piece combined frosty silver devices and satiny fields with delicate peripheral gold toning.
