Franz Lipperheide was a 19th-century Austrian illustrator who is best-remembered for his enormous collection of historical costume and clothing. In the second half of the 19th-century, Berlin was the world center of fashion and fashion industry. Lipperheide, who lived in Berlin, published “Kostu?msammlung”, or “Collection of Costumes” which features illustrations of clothing styles from around the world in stunning, full-color views. Many of the illustrations depict styles from Europe from as early as 1600.
