Charles George Gordon was a 19th-century British Army officer who gained his famed reputation in China during the Taiping Rebellion. He was also sent to Sudan during the Mahdist War to help rescue British soldiers. It was there in Khartoum that he died. While in Khartoum, he kept a journal describing the events of the Sudanese revolt and the Mahdist War. The book ‘General Gordon’ is the biography of the life of Charles Gordon. The biography was written for a younger audience to highlight the Christian character of Charles Gordon.
