1899 QSA 2 clasps Cape Colony, Wittebergen engraved to Major H.C. Dugdale 8th Co 4/Impl Yeo good very fine, with mounting pin as worn. With RMA/RMC Athletics Woolwich and Sandhurst 51mm silver coloured prize medal engraved "1880 H.C. Dugdale Winner 120 Yds Hurdle Time 16½ Seconds" good very fine.
Herbert Crowe Dugdale was commissioned in 16th Lancers 22/1/81, promoted Lieut 1/7/81, Capt 9/1/89, appointed Adjt Derbyshire Yeomanry 12/6/90, retired and borne as supernumerary whilst serving as Asst Adjt 6th Yeomanry Bde 5/1/98. With copied roll, LGs, Army List and 2 Derbyshire Daily Telegraph articles: 16 Jan 1901 reported "Major H.C. Dugdale, who went out to South Africa in command of the Derbyshire Company of Imperial Yeomanry, and has been invalided home. Whilst in South Africa he went through numerous engagements and was appointed 2IC of the 8th Yeomanry Bde. He had to go into hospital suffering from dysentery."
15 Mar 1909 reported his death from pneumonia aged 48. (R)
