CSM Alexander Shanks was Mentioned in Despatches published in London Gazette dated 22nd May 1917 serving with 17th (Empire) Bn Royal Fusiliers. With 4 copied pages of service record, MIC, MID card and rolls, he was born in Linlithgow, enlisted 11/6/97 while serving with 8th Vol Bn R.
